Job Overview
As an Airport Operations Dispatcher, you will serve as a critical link in maintaining YVR’s seamless airport operations. You will monitor alarms, radios, and communication channels, dispatch response teams, and track real-time incidents to uphold airport safety and efficiency. This position requires quick decision-making, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
This role requires handling critical tasks to ensure smooth and safe airport operations.
- Monitor and Coordinate Operations: Utilize alarm systems, radios, phones, emails, and social media to dispatch and direct operational staff, maintenance teams, and emergency responders.
- Emergency Response & Safety: Prioritize incidents and ensure rapid response to emergencies, security threats, and maintenance issues while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Relay critical information between internal teams, external contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Incident Tracking & Reporting: Efficiently document real-time events using Maximo and other software to maintain clear and accurate records of all airport activities.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Compliance: Maintain a thorough understanding of YVR’s SOPs and Incident Command processes to ensure proper protocol is followed for airside, terminal-side, and groundside operations.
- Customer Service & Public Inquiries: Respond to general inquiries from passengers and the public via phone, email, TTY, and social media.
Qualifications & Skills

- Experience & Education:

- Minimum two years of experience as a dispatcher/call-taker or in a relevant aviation role.
- High school diploma with one to two years of post-secondary education or equivalent training and experience.

- Technical & Computer Skills:

- Proficiency in Maximo, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Everbridge, Barco Sidebar, and Adobe.
- Fast and accurate typing skills with strong grammar and spelling.

- Strong written and verbal English communication (additional language skills are an asset).
- Ability to manage multiple emergency situations while maintaining composure and accuracy.
